Write to local MPs and cabinet minister for health about anti-abortion ‘advice’ centresPosted: 22 January 2013
The following letters can be downloaded and sent to MPs and the local cabinet minister for health and wellbeing about the activities of Care Confidential’s bogus pregnancy ‘advice’ centres. Please feel free to adapt the letters, and to use them for other areas where Care Confidential centres have been set up.
The MP for Cambridge, Julian Huppert, has already expressed support and promised to follow up the issue of the centres with the Health Minister. So the following model letter is for the MPs for Ely, Newmarket, Huntingdon and Peterborough: Model letter for MPs. It asks them to raise the issue with the Minister for Health so that Care Confidential can be formally investigated.
And here is a model letter asking County Councillor Steve Tierney to bring up the centres at the next meeting of the health scrutiny committee: Model letter for the local Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing
We can also go into our local GP surgeries and remove any leaflets that are there from Care Confidential. It is worth complaining about their presence in the waiting room – we have found that GPs are not aware that they have been put there.
Here is some background on the case of Care Confidential’s bogus advice centres and what FAC has been doing to challenge them.
